What is CarbonAI?

At CarbonAI, we are building the AI engine to power one of the world’s largest industries and asset classes ($30 trillion of commercial real estate in the US alone). We are building the technological foundation to power a future of abundance, intelligence and sustainability starting with transforming the transactional workflow at its core - the $20B loan servicing industry.

In a little more than 6 months since we raised our seed round (Bling Capital led and backed our last venture too), we’ve already accomplished quite a bit:

• Launched our beta product in May 2025
• Expected to sign our first paying enterprise customer in June 2025
• Secured design partnerships covering ~25% of our initial target market (loan servicers)

And we are continuing to move fast toward securing early market leadership in the CRE space through frontier AI innovation.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Full-stack Engineer to partner with our Founding AI Engineer, Michael Wang, and an elite team of Ex Google/Uber contract engineers to:

• Continue developing our full-stack web application and related infrastructure (integrated with our AI/ML stack)
• Build brand new product modules and features that automate high-value, real-world workflows
• Optimize existing workflows and features to drive accuracy, efficiency, and automation

In this role, you’ll work on every part of the stack aside from our AI/ML architecture.

What You’ll Do (in more detail)

• Manage and build our backend application infrastructure. Our application backend coordinates async operations like AI processing and document conversion, and owns post-processing logic and heuristics on AI results. Built in a Typescript monorepo leveraging Express, GraphQ,L and Postgres, and deployed to AWS using Pulumi IaC.
• Develop and maintain our front-end UI and application layer: Our application frontend presents a first-class experience for users to stay in the driver’s seat while orchestrating AI-powered operations. Built in Typescript as an SPA using React and Tailwind, using custom-built high-performance components like our Spreadsheet and Timeline View.
• Build and manage integrations to our AI infrastructure. Our product blends best-in-class AI/ML architecture with robust and modern application architecture. You’ll work closely with our AI engineers to ensure the app-layer and AI layer are well-integrated.
• Scale infrastructure with security in mind. We manage sensitive data for financial institutions so security is paramount. We plan to serve thousands of users in the next few years and will need to build a foundation of scalability into the product early.
• Drive technical strategy & roadmap. As a core member of the founding team, you’ll drive technical strategy, influence architecture decisions, and have a seat at the table for company-level strategic decision-making.
